If you're bringing partner organisations and their contacts onto your app, you can import them in bulk rather than adding them one at a time. This is a two-step process: you import your organisations first, then import their contacts separately afterwards, linking each contact back to its organisation. Imported organisations then appear in the donor Organisation list when you log donations, and their contacts can be added as external participants without inviting them to the platform.
Where to find it
Go to the Admin Panel and open (Engagement › Organisations), then use the Actions menu to choose Import organisations or Import contacts.
Step 1: Import organisations
Required columns:
Organisation Name
Stakeholder Type ID
📌 Note: Every organisation row must include a Stakeholder Type ID. Find your Type IDs under (Settings › Stakeholders) before you start - see How to configure stakeholders.
Optional columns: Legal Type, Organisation Type, Sector, Location, Website.
Download the import template, fill in one row per organisation, then drag and drop your file (or click to browse - .csv or .xlsx accepted) and click Import.
Step 2: Import contacts
Once your organisations are imported, you can add their contacts in a separate file. Required columns:
Organisation ID
First Name
Last Name
📌 Note: Copy the Organisation IDs from the Organisations listing or each organisation's detail page - don't type them by hand. Each contact row needs the Organisation ID of the organisation it belongs to, so contacts can only be imported after their organisation already exists on the platform. Several contacts can share the same Organisation ID if they belong to the same organisation.
Optional column: Email.
Download the import template, fill in one row per contact, then upload your file the same way.
This is typically something you'd do early on, as part of setting up your app - getting your known partner organisations and their contacts in place before donations and external participation start flowing through the platform.
📌 Note: This file-based import is different from the two other ways people get onto Goodsted. It brings in partner organisations and their contacts as records you can select (for example as a donor), not as members who can sign in. To invite your own members in bulk, see How can I bulk import users?. For a partner organisation to join and use its own Goodsted app, see How to join or set up your organisation's Goodsted app.
