How to configure stakeholders

Set up the individual and organisation stakeholder types you work with, and what each one sees when they're invited.

Written by Sevgi Sairoglu Sezginer

The Stakeholders section in Settings > Genral is where you configure the different groups of people and organisations your app works with. This has been fully restructured - it's more than a rename, so if you've seen the old flat list, expect it to look different. This article gives an admin a complete walkthrough.

Where to find it

Go to the Admin Panel and open (Settings › General), then the Stakeholders section.

Individual and Organisational types

Stakeholder types are split into two subsections:

  • Individual Stakeholder Types - people, added from an "Add individual stakeholder type…" dropdown.

  • Organisational Stakeholder Types - organisations, added the same way from their own dropdown.

New apps start with nothing pre-added - you add the types you need. Each row shows the Default Type you picked, an editable Custom Name (leave it blank and it shows "Same as default"), an auto-generated ID, a Configure icon, and a Delete icon.

📌 Note: Deleting a type that's already in use is blocked - you'll see how many members or organisations are using it. Deleting an unused type shows a confirmation prompt first ("This cannot be undone").

Configuring an individual stakeholder type

Click the Configure icon on an individual type's row to set:

  • Invite Image - the image shown on that type's sign-up page. Uses a default Goodsted image unless you upload your own.

  • Invite Message - shown on the invite sign-up page for that type.

  • Welcome Message - shown as a dismissable banner on the Home page for members of that type. Each type has its own message, so different stakeholder types can see different welcomes. If a member has already dismissed it and you edit the message, it reappears for them.

  • Authentication - choose the sign-in method (Email & Password, SSO only, or Both). If SSO is involved, you can also choose which SSO providers are allowed (Google, Microsoft - at least one must stay on) and, in a later release, restrict sign-in to trusted domains.

⚠️ Important: This replaces the single, app-wide "Welcome message" setting that used to live in Settings › General. That setting is gone - Welcome Message now lives per individual stakeholder type here instead. If you configured a welcome message before, it carries over as the default for your existing individual types, but any new type starts blank.

Configuring an organisational stakeholder type

Click the Configure icon on an organisational type's row to set:

  • Invite Image and Invite Message, the same as for individual types.

  • Available Legal Types, Organisation Types and Sectors - choose which options show during that type's sign-up. Leave everything unchecked to allow all options.

  • Primary Purpose - shown read-only, and set automatically based on the Default Type you chose (for example, Supplier maps to "Deliver social value commitments").

Organisations don't get an Authentication section - they always sign up with Email & Password plus Google and Microsoft SSO, on any domain.
