If a partner organisation you work with uses Goodsted, they can invite you to collaborate with them on the platform. The invite gives you your own Goodsted app, connected to theirs, so the two of you can work on the same programmes, opportunities and reporting.
Start by clicking the link in your invite
Your partner organisation sends you a link, usually by email. Clicking it opens a page that confirms who invited you, the relationship you have been invited under, and what you will be doing together.
Two things on this page matter:
Who you are to them. This is your stakeholder type - the label your partner picked when they added you to their app. On the page above it reads "Corporate Partner", but yours may be different.
Your purpose. This is what the collaboration is for. Your purpose decides how your app is set up, which modules you get, and what your dashboard asks you to do first.
You don't choose either of these yourself. Your partner organisation sets them when they send the invite, and the link carries them through into your account. If something looks wrong - you've been invited as a supplier but you're actually a supported charity, for example - let your partner know before you continue, and ask them to resend the invite.

Setting up your app, step by step
1. Enter your email address
Give the email address you want the account to sit on. Use a work address you'll keep access to - this becomes the login for your app.
If you already have a Goodsted account on that address, you'll be asked to sign in instead of creating a new one, and the invite is added to the account you already have.
2. Create your account
Sign up with Google or Microsoft if your organisation uses either, or set a password and fill in the rest by hand. You'll need your name and your location, and you'll need to accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
3. Find your organisation
Search for your organisation by name. Goodsted checks whether it already has an app.
If it appears in the results, select it. You'll be added to the existing app rather than creating a duplicate.
If nothing comes up, click Set up a new organisation and carry on to the next step.
Search before you create. If a colleague has already set your organisation up, joining theirs keeps all your activity, reporting and members in one place.
4. Register your organisation
Tell us about your organisation so the app can be set up properly.

These details are visible to the partners you collaborate with and help them match you to the right opportunities. You can edit all of them later in Settings.
5. Choose your app's web address
This is the URL you will use to reach your app: app.goodsted.com/your-organisation.
Goodsted checks availability as you type. Keep it short and recognisable - your organisation's name, or a shortened version of it.
This one can't be changed later, so take a moment over it before clicking Continue.
6. You're in
Your app is created and you land on your admin dashboard.
Two checklists are waiting for you:
Configure your App - the basics that make the app yours: app title, logo, brand colour, your causes, your stakeholder types, your internal structure, and inviting your team.
Your purpose checklist - the steps specific to what you were invited to do.
You don't have to finish either in one sitting. The dashboard tracks your progress and you can come back to it whenever.
On the right you'll see Your Plan, showing the modules active on your app. Everything you need for the purpose you were invited under is included from the start.
Common questions
Does my partner organisation see everything in my app? No. Your app is yours. What your partner sees is the activity you share with them through the opportunities you collaborate on.
We already have a Goodsted app. What happens then? Search for your organisation at step 3 and select it. The invite attaches to your existing app and the new collaboration appears alongside your current work - you don't need a second app.
Can I be invited by more than one partner? Yes. Each invite adds another collaboration to the same app.
I picked the wrong details during setup. Everything except the web address can be edited in Settings once you're in.
My invite link doesn't work. Ask your partner organisation to resend it, or get in touch with us at support@goodsted.com.
