Logging in
Click Log in with Microsoft and sign in with your work account.
Once you've logged in, you'll be asked to review and accept Goodsted's legal documents, such as the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, before you can enter the platform.
You'll then be asked a few mandatory questions. These can't be skipped - you'll need to complete them to finish setting up your account.
Your location. Type your location and select one of the suggested options in the dropdown.
Your directorate and team. The labels are dynamic, so depending on your organisation you may see them as Region and office, Branch and division, or similar. Pick the options that match where you sit in your organisation. You may not get this question asked if we already have this data.
Exploring opportunities
When you log in to Goodsted, you land on the homepage, which lists the opportunities your organisation has posted. Browse the opportunity cards to see the key details and find ones that interest you.
Use the filters at the top of the page to narrow down by date, location, skill, opportunity type, cause or beneficiary group.
Applying to opportunities
Click on the opportunity you'd like to apply to. Review the date, time, duration, location and other details. If it works for you, click Apply. You can use the message box to say why you'd like to take part or ask the opportunity lead a question. This field is optional.
How your application gets approved
Your application goes to the opportunity lead first. They'll review it and either accept or decline. If you're accepted or declined, you'll get both an email and an in-platform notification.
What happens after an opportunity is completed
After the opportunity takes place, the opportunity lead marks it as completed and indicates whether each participant completed it or not. This triggers feedback forms for both the opportunity lead and the participants.
Give Feedback
After you've taken part, you can share feedback on your experience. Either click the link in the email you'll receive, or go to your Dashboard, find the opportunity, and select Share feedback from the three-dot menu next to it.
Volunteer Hours
How your hours get logged depends on the type of opportunity.
Fixed date and time opportunities. Once the opportunity lead marks the opportunity as completed, your hours are logged automatically based on the commitment hours set on the opportunity. You don't need to do anything.
Flexible opportunities. Hours aren't logged automatically, even after the opportunity is marked completed. You'll need to log them yourself using the hour log form in your profile dropdown menu. The opportunity lead can also log hours on behalf of participants.
You can also use the hour log form for any volunteering that happened outside the app, or for opportunities you led yourself.
For step-by-step instructions, see How to log volunteer hours.
Tracking your opportunities and hours
You can keep track of the opportunities you've applied to and joined from your Dashboard. Click Dashboard in the top right. From there you'll see your activities, the opportunities you've joined and the ones you're leading, plus your logged hours, each under its own tab.
You can also see your opportunities grouped by status - pending approval, ongoing, or completed.
Messaging
When you join an opportunity, a message group is created automatically for everyone taking part. Click Messages in the top right to post in the group or message the opportunity lead directly.
