What does the "your involvement" question mean? When should I select yes?

Understand the "your involvement" question on the Post Opportunity form and when to select yes.

Written by Sevgi Sairoglu Sezginer

When you post an opportunity, you'll be asked about your involvement - whether you, as the person posting, are also taking part as a volunteer. This short article explains what the question means and how to answer it.

What the question is asking

The "your involvement" question appears in the parameters section of the Post Opportunity form. It's asking a simple thing: are you, the opportunity lead, also participating in this opportunity as a volunteer?

What happens when you select "yes"

If you select yes, you're added as a participant and you count towards capacity, and your hours are logged and counted within the opportunity's volunteer hours - just like any other participant. This keeps your contribution visible in totals and reporting.

When to select yes vs no

  • Select yes if you'll be rolling up your sleeves and contributing time alongside the volunteers you're recruiting.

  • Select no if this is part of your job and you're only organising or coordinating the opportunity and won't be logging volunteering time of your own.

📝 Note: Selecting yes simply ensures your own hours are counted. If you're unsure, you can revisit this when you mark the opportunity complete and confirm participants.
