How to join or set up your organisation's Goodsted app

Two ways to get started: ask to join an app your organisation already has, or set up a brand new one.

Written by Sevgi Sairoglu Sezginer

If your organisation doesn't have a Goodsted app yet, or you're not sure whether it does, this article covers both routes in from the sign-up page - so you don't need an admin to invite you first to get started.

Before you start

At the welcome step, enter your email. If it's already on a Goodsted account, you'll see a message that it exists and be stopped there - sign in instead, or use a different email. If it's new, you'll be taken on to create your account (name, email, password, location).

Path A - Requesting access to an existing app

Use this path if you believe your organisation already has a Goodsted app, and you just need to be added to it.

  1. Search for your organisation by name.

  2. If a matching organisation with an existing app is found, select it and click Request Access.

  3. Your request is sent as a pending membership, and every admin on that app is notified by email and in-app.

  4. You'll get an in-app notification once an admin approves or declines your request. You only become a member once it's approved - there's nothing further to do until then.

📌 Note: If you've already requested access to that app, you'll see a message that you've already asked, rather than a duplicate request. If you're unsure whether your organisation already has an app, try this path first before setting up a new one - Path B is for when a search genuinely turns up nothing.

Path B - Setting up a brand new app

If your search doesn't find your organisation, you can register it and create its app instead.

  1. Fill in your organisation's details (name, legal type, organisation type, sector, location, website).

  2. Choose a URL slug for your app. It must be lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens only, and can't already be taken - this can't be changed later, though your app's display name can be.

  3. Select at least one purpose for the app (for example volunteering, or tracking commitment delivery).

  4. Submit. Your organisation and app are created, you're made the owner-admin, and you're signed in straight to your new dashboard.

📌 Note: Based on the purpose(s) you select, the matching modules switch on automatically - Volunteering and Commitment Delivery both start on a Free plan tier; Partner Support, where applicable, has no plan tier at all.

This is different from being invited by an existing admin (see How to invite users to your app via link or e-mail) - this article is specifically for getting started when nobody has invited you yet.
