Understanding donation types

Learn the five donation types and how each one's value is worked out.

Written by Sevgi Sairoglu Sezginer

Every donation on Goodsted is one of five types. The four non-money types are together called in-kind. This article explains each one.

The five types

  • Money - a cash contribution. You enter an Amount.

  • Materials - physical goods such as backpacks, stationery or food. Value is Quantity × Unit Value.

  • Equipment - items like laptops, sports kit or furniture. Quantity × Unit Value.

  • Space - use of a venue, hall or room. Quantity × Unit Value.

  • Service - a donated service such as catering, transport or professional time. Quantity × Unit Value.

How value is worked out

The Total Value is the Amount for a Money donation, or Quantity × Unit Value for the four in-kind types. All donations use your app's single default currency.
