How to filter and search opportunities

Find the right opportunities quickly using filters and search on the discover page.

Written by Sevgi Sairoglu Sezginer

The discover page can hold a lot of opportunities, so filters and search help you narrow down to exactly what you're looking for. This article covers the filters available, how to combine them, and a handy new way to share a filtered view.

The filters available

On the discover page you can filter opportunities by (this is the order they appear in on the home page):

  • Date - choose a start date and end date to filter opportunities to a date range. This is the first filter on the home page.

  • Location - country, city

  • Type - Volunteering, Learning, Funding, In-kind donation (coming soon).

  • Skills - the skills an opportunity calls for.

  • Causes - the impact area.

  • Beneficiary Groups - who the work benefits.

  • Directorate - filter by the directorate that hosts the opportunity. When you select a directorate, a Team filter opens beneath it, so you can narrow down to opportunities posted by a specific team. (Directorate and Team are dynamic and use your app's own terminology - for example Region, Area or Branch - so the labels you see may differ.)

  • Initiative - filter by the initiative the opportunity belongs to.

Combining filters and searching

You can apply several filters at once to refine your results - for example, remote Volunteering opportunities in a particular cause area. Use the search box to find opportunities by keyword in the title. To start over, use Clear all to reset every filter.

Sharing a filtered view

When you apply a Type filter, the page's web address (URL) updates to include it. That means you can:

  • Copy the link and share it, so the recipient lands on the same filtered view.

  • Bookmark it to return to your filtered list later.

  • Refresh the page without losing the filter, and use your browser's back and forward buttons as you'd expect.

📝 Note: Currently the Type filter is the one that syncs to the URL. Other filters may follow in future releases.
