Funding opportunities are how you ask for financial support towards a target, and track what's been pledged as it comes in. This guide walks through posting one.
đ Note: The opportunity types available to you depend on how your app is set up. If Funding isn't one of your options, your programme manager may have turned it off.
đ Note: Funding was previously called "Sponsorship." If your app still shows the old label in places, it refers to the same opportunity type.
1. Open the Post Opportunity form
Click your profile in the top right corner, then select Post Opportunity from the dropdown.
2. Choose Funding as the opportunity type
Pick Funding at the top of the form. This reveals the funding-specific fields further down, so choose it before you fill anything else in.
3. Link it to an activity
Every opportunity sits under an activity - the wider piece of work it belongs to. Activities group your delivery work, opportunities and hours together.
Click Search for an activity and choose an existing one, or click Create new activity and fill in the short form that opens.

4. Check the fields that fill in for you
Once an activity is linked, these carry over from it:
Host - inherited from the activity, and you can change it here
Beneficiary groups - inherited. You can remove one here, but to add one you'll need to update the activity first.
Cause - inherited, and shown as a badge on the activity card
5. Fill in the core details
Give the opportunity a title and explain what the funding is for. Be specific about what the money will pay for - it's the main thing people weigh up before pledging.
6. Set your funding target
Enter the total amount you need. Once the opportunity is live, progress shows against that target as pledges come in, so anyone looking at the page can see how far along you are.
7. Add an image
Add a photo to the listing. Posts with an image get noticed. You can find free, high-quality images on Pexels or Unsplash.
8. Set who can see it
The Privacy section sits near the bottom of the form, and it decides who your opportunity reaches. With funding this matters more than usual - if the people who might fund you aren't in the audience, they won't see the ask.
All individual stakeholders: Everyone who is a member of your app, whatever individual stakeholder type they hold. It stays inside your app, so connected organisations don't see it.
Custom audience - you choose who it goes to. Choose Select by type first, then narrow it down from there.
The types you can pick from are your app's stakeholder types. As standard these are Client, Supplier, Supported Organisation, Corporate Partner and Subcontractor, but each app can rename them - an admin sets the labels in Admin panel â Settings â Stakeholders, so the wording you see may be different.
Once you've chosen a type, you'll be asked whether to share with everyone of that type or with specific organisations. For example, you might share with all corporate partners, or with one named funder only.
When you share with an organisation this way, the opportunity reaches that organisation's admins, who then decide who inside their organisation sees it. It stays inside that circle - it isn't published publicly.
You can change the privacy setting later by editing the opportunity.
9. Post it
Click Post opportunity. If there's no approval step, the opportunity goes live as soon as you post. If approvals are turned on, then the opportunity needs to be approved by an admin.
If you click and nothing seems to happen, scroll back up the form. Any field that still needs an answer is outlined in red with a message underneath it.
Tracking funding after you've posted
Once it's live, your stakeholders can apply and pledge towards your goal, and the opportunity page shows progress against your target in real time.
When the funding round is finished, open the opportunity and choose Change status â Mark as complete. You'll see a pop-up for each accepted participant, where you confirm whether the donation came through and adjust the amount if what arrived was different from what was pledged.
If at least one participant confirms, the opportunity is marked Completed and donation logs are created automatically. They appear in the admin Donations listing and on the activity's Donations tab.
If everyone declines, the opportunity is marked Not completed and no donation logs are created.
đ Want to track the confirmed amounts afterwards? Go to Admin Panel â Measurement â Donation Logs - they appear there. Depending on your app's settings, an admin may need to approve them before they count.
